Jacqui Walkers Belarus Trip Sponsorship PageHello and welcome to my website!My name is Jacqui and I'm a third year student nurse who needs your help to raise funds for flight and accomodation costs to Belarus. I am part of Belarussian Aid for Children Cardiff Undergraduate Programme (BACCUP) which is a student-run charity based at the University Wales College of Medicine (UWCM). I have been selected to travel to Belarus this summer 2006 to work voluntarily as part of a healthcare team looking after chronically disabled orphans in Minsk. This will be my second trip as i went last year (2005) with a lot of help from my friends (please see gallery for last years photos). This trip is an opportunity to improve childrens' lives as many of them are victims of an impoverished society. Their families often live in Minsk but are too poor to afford chilcare or be able to stay home and look after them. I feel the experience is an excellent way to improve my nursing skills aswell as making a difference in the Novinki orphanage and could not be repeated anywhere else its unique!
